HANNAH ROBERTS is one of the outstanding cellists and pedagogues of her generation and was privileged to have studied with Susannah Roberts, William Pleeth and Ralph Kirshbaum.

A multiple prizewinner in competitions such as Shell LSO, BBC Young Musician, Jacqueline du Pré Memorial and Pierre Fournier awards, Hannah has given many concerto performances with leading orchestras, including the London Mozart Players, LSO, BBC Concert Orchestra, and the Hallé, also making frequent broadcasts for BBC radio, recording with renowned colleagues for ASV and Decca, and participating in numerous international festivals as both soloist and chamber musician.

In addition to her activities as soloist, chamber musician, and principal cellist of Manchester Camerata, Hannah is an internationally sought-after teacher, Jacqueline du Pré Professor of Cello at the RAM in London, Professor of Cello at the RNCM in Manchester and visiting tutor for the University of Oxford. Her students have included artists such as Sheku Kanneh-Mason and Abel Selaocoe and many other cellists currently enjoying prestigious international careers as chamber musicians and principal cellists.

She is honoured to have been awarded both an HonRAM and FRNCM, and enjoys working with some of the world’s most gifted young musicians at prestigious international masterclasses each summer.

Simon Parkin

Award winning pianist, composer and arranger SIMON PARKIN is renowned for his exceptional duo playing and imaginative composing and arranging, and in addition to his duo with cellist Hannah Roberts has performed with artists such as Ralph Kirshbaum, Steven Isserlis, Alban Gerhardt, Sol Gabetta, Nigel Kennedy, Sandy Baillie, to name just a few.

Holding a PhD in composition (Manchester University), Simon’s works are published by Faber and feature in the commercial recordings of a number of international artists and ensembles including Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Jess Gillam, Christian Li and Nicola Benedetti (all for Decca Classics), Zurich Tonhalle, San Francisco Symphony, United Strings of Europe, Manchester Camerata, Manchester Collective and international festivals.

He has twice had arrangements performed at the BBC Proms and his arrangement of ‘Scarborough Fair’ for cello and guitar has had twenty-nine million downloads on Spotify.

The Marylebone Cellos

THE MARYLEBONE CELLOS is the stage name of the cello studio of Jacqueline du Pré professor of cello Hannah Roberts at the Royal Academy of Music.

Comprised of musicians from across the United Kingdom, continental Europe, Japan, and the United States, the ensemble is united by a deep passion for the cello and a strong sense of camaraderie. Together, they champion the rich and expressive sound world of the cello ensemble, presenting fresh arrangements and diverse repertoire to audiences across London and beyond.
